Ayurvedic Chia Seed Recipe

My Ayurvedic Chia Seed Recipe:

Ingredients:
2/3 cup chia seeds
2 cups of unsweetened mylk (milk substitute)
2 1/2 tbsp pure maple syrup ( not needed if on sugar control diet)
1/2 tsp raw vanilla powder or extract
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp clove
1/2 tsp ginger

Garnish:
Dried fruit - dates, goji berries, golden berries, mulberries (avoid if VATA is high), dried coconut (avoid if KAPHA is high)
Dried nuts - brazil, walnuts, pecans (avoid if VATA is high)
Seeds- pumpkin, sunflower, chia
Fresh fruit - local and in season preferable
Fresh herb - mint

Put chia seeds, Mylk, maple syrup, and all spices in a 1-quart glass jar with a lid. Tighten the lid and shake well to thoroughly combine. Refrigerate overnight. When ready to serve, stir well. Spoon into bowls and top with fruit (dried and fresh) coconut flakes, mint. I like to drizzle a little more Mylk over the top as well. Yum!

Ayurvedic understanding is that Chia seeds are heating in nature and can increase Pitta in a person. So best eaten moderately to none if there is an excess of Pitta. In general, they are good seeds for both Vata and Kapha folk.
